Hi everyone,

Please find attached our WQM data and Chemical Analyses for May, 2023.

Many thanks to Helen and Brian for their invaluable assistance in collecting the data.

Just a few points of interest:

  1. The WQM results are generally OK with some great turbidity results showing how clear the water was, as opposed to the results from say Yaun Creek where resent rain has caused significant sediment to enter the waterway. There is significant pollution in the upper parts of the Coomera River.

  2. There is a major discrepancy between the results from Coomera weir freshwater and saltwater; this is due to the readings being taken a fortnight apart, during which time greater amounts of pollution had accumulated below the weir, an interesting result.

  3. The amount of pollution in Waterhen Lake has lessened, due to recent rains and the lower water temperature no longer feeding the cyano toxic bloom which had been present for some time.

  4. Salinity at the Coomera River weir remains about half of that downstream at the M1 bridge.

Enjoy the data and get out and enjoy our wonderful natural environment.

Kind regards

Steven Gill

Just became aware of this page and want to say thanks to all involved in the planting project on the old farm near Regatta Waters. Can’t believe how big some of those trees are now. As a local from Graywillow Blvd, I’m happy to get involved in the future. Great job guys!!!
