Hi everyone

Please find attached our WQM results for December 2022.

In respect of those results the following observations are offered:

  1. The lack of rainfall has resulted in the highest salinity readings yet for the Paradise Point to Koala Town Road stretch

  2. I have always considered the wind to be the “ cloud shepherd” ; it seems that that the wind is also the “water shepherd” in view of the chemical results from Regatta Waters where the S.E wind has concentrated the pollutive elements in the NW corner of the lake which also contains the major pumping system between river and lake

  3. Higher temperatures have resulted in decreased dissolved oxygen in the waterways which has resulted in poorer conditions for macroinvertebrates; lower water temperatures hold more dissolved oxygen that higher temperatures

And from a fisherperson’s perspective, at the end of Koala Town Road is a carpark and off that road is an area on the RHS where recently a person I came across had used live herring to catch and release a 45cm and a 50 cm mangrove jack; imagine that?

Many thanks to Helen and Ross and to Brian for their assistance in sampling throughout the month.

Kind regards

Steven Gill

Just became aware of this page and want to say thanks to all involved in the planting project on the old farm near Regatta Waters. Can’t believe how big some of those trees are now. As a local from Graywillow Blvd, I’m happy to get involved in the future. Great job guys!!!
